Contaminants Removed by RO Systems

Reverse Osmosis is the best available technology to remove many contaminants. Reverse osmosis water systems normally include elements for mechanical filtration, activated carbon absorption and membrane separation to reduce the entire spectrum of contaminants that can be found in water. Typical RO systems, when properly installed and maintained, will substantially remove heavy metals, inorganic chemicals, radionuclide contaminants and organic compounds. Any customer can measure (using handheld TDS meter) the total dissolved solids in purified water and in tap water to get an idea about the removal achieved by a specific system.
INORGANIC CHEMICALS
The following inorganic contaminants (if present in your tap water in normally found concentrations) will be removed or reduced by filtration with a reverse osmosis membrane element.
Aluminium, Arsenic, Nitrate, Nitrite, Fluoride, Cadmium, Perchlorate, Barium, Benzene, , Calcium, Chloride, Chromium VI, Copper, , Iron, Lead, Magnesium, Manganese, Mercury II, , Potassium, Selenium IV, Silver, Sodium, Strontium, Sulphate, Zinc
RADIONUCLIDE CONTAMINANTS
Uranium, Radium
ORGANIC COMPOUNDS
The following organic contaminants (if present in your tap water in normally found concentrations) will be removed or reduced by filtration with granular activated carbon.
Adrazin, Aldrin, Chlorine, Chloroform, Dichlormethane, DOT, Endrin, Fluoranthene, Herbicides, Lindane, Methoxychlor, PCB, Perchlorethylene, Pesticides, Phenole, Tannic Acids, Toxaphene, Trichlorethlene, Trihalomethanes, Volatile Organic Contaminants (VOC), synthetic organic contaminants (e.g., DBCP).
Eden Filters is not in business to make any health claims for any of its water systems. When a claim is made by any one for any treatment device, the claim should be supported by laboratory data from an independent water authority in the water treatment industry, such as the Water Quality Association. We stand behind our products and ensure that components used in our systems are certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF).
