The RO5-099-ALK Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system is unique in many ways. It has a high-capacity RO membrane (100 GPD) and an alkaline mineral filter in a standard 2.5x10" cartridge for improving the taste. This system is simply a residential machine for producing spring water.
The RO Module consists of five stages complete with filters and an RO membrane. The five stages of filtration are as follows:
1st Stage: 5-Micron Polyspun Sediment Filter Cartridge 2.5x10" (replace every 12 months); removes dirt, suspended particles, and rust.
2nd Stage: 10-micron Carbon Block Filter Cartridge 2.5x10" (replace every 12 months); removes chlorine and VOC.
3rd Stage: 100 GPD TFC RO Membrane (replace every 2 years); removes all contaminants and reduces dissolved solids by up to 95%.
4th Stage: Inline GAC Filter 2x10" (replace every 12 months); provides final polishing of water after the storage tank.
5th Stage: Alkaline mineral cartridge 2.5"x10" (replace every 12 months). The mineral media filter releases minerals and carbonates in the water improving the taste, raising pH, and lowering ORP. If you do not want minerals in the water, just put carbon block cartridge 2.5x10" here.
The System comes with a lead-free modern mini faucet with chrome finish, 3.2-gallon pressurized tank, color-coded tubing, and an installation pack. The installation pack includes tank ball valve, feed water valve, drain clamp, inserts and screws, housing wrench, and the installation manual.
The RO System has an important component, an auto shut-off valve, which eliminates waste by closing the feed line when the tank is full. This system makes less wasted brine water than similar filters - 3:1 ratio.
